DESCRIPTION: The San Luis Obispo Hotel is a proposed, 125,000 SF boutique hotel, located in the Historic District of San Louis Obispo, California. The project consists of 85 luxury suites above a podium containing retail spaces, a restaurant, and an underground hotel parking area. The hotel features the latest in luxury amenities and high quality finishes, as well as a contemporary spa and a health club. The massing of the main building is set back from the street to form an entry court and an elegantly landscaped exterior plaza in the rear that accommodates outdoor dining and shopping, as well as serves as a connection to the rest of the development. Brand + Allen Architects is responsible for creating the innovative planning strategy and the project concept based on owner development criteria and site restrictions. We have completed a preliminary round of meetings with the city of San Luis Obispo Planning Department regarding massing and zoning restrictions. The construction of the proposed building is Type III; the structure is a reinforced concrete shear wall system on a concrete pile foundation. The exterior of the building consists of window wall system with a combination of Low-E insulated glass, wood, plaster, and stone cladding.
